Earth Sea Sky Winter retreat - sound & silence

  • Rosemerryn Wood Lamorna Cove Penzance, England, TR19 6BN United Kingdom (map)

Welcome to this wintering retreat of ‘sound & silence’. We will share 4 nights in a former artists residence in the wild heart of ancient Cornwall. As a small group (max 10) we explore the receptive and reflective yin energies of winter through slow, still, nourishing yogic practises, healing sound journeys and a day of sacred silence.

My invitation to you:

This retreat space is held with great love and intention for you to follow the invitation of winter; to spiral inwards towards greater stillness and restoration. Here we can bring awareness to the depths of body-mind and create space for our own healing process to unfold. Taking rare time away from the noise and pace of daily life, but within the support of like-hearted community.

The retreat space:

We have held several retreats at Rosemerryn wood now due to its unique blend of home-from-home comfort, privacy and supportive ancient energy. You can simply curl up and rest here. Or explore woodland walks in its extensive grounds, connect with the ocean at the nearby Lamorna Cove, meditate in the fogou (man made underground cave specific to Cornwall) and visit an abundance of nearby power sites.

The offering:

  • The morning opens with somatic movement, yin yoga and guided meditation. (Somatic movement invites playful, pulsing, oscillating movements while yin yoga involves a series of simple postures held for longer periods with an attitude of deep listening and allowing. Both help us explore deep rooted tensions especially in the fascia and energy/ emotional body).

  • Before lunch we will share yoga nidra, a laying down healing meditation which involves rotation of consciousness through the physical and subtle bodies, breath awareness and connection to silence (I work largely with the Himalayan style of nidra).

  • The dusk sessions will focus on sound journeying using gongs, crystal bowls, voice and an array of ancient instruments like flute, drum, lyre. This deep listening practise offers sonic nutrition to each and every cell.

  • Evenings will have a relaxed feel, please bring books to share and feel free to cosy up by the wood burner in PJs and slippers!

  • Three delicious plant based meals (main meal of the day at lunchtime) are created by our chef Molly each day using local and seasonal produce.

  • There will be silent time each day from the evening activity until after breakfast.

  • One of the days will include 24 hours of sacred silence. We carefully facilitate this practise as a gift to ourselves and a way to connect with each other at a deeper level.

Set in ancient woodlands with an iron age fogou in the grounds, Rosemerryn was a pretty spectacular setting for what turned out to be a deeply healing weekend filled with love and incredible plant based food. Ali brought an authentic and deep connection to the land - I honestly don’t think we could have had a better experience - 100% recommend!
